Quantitative Analyses of Urinary Uranium by µ-PIXE

Simple methods for the determination of elements in biological fluids have been developed. It is important to quantify accidental incorporation radionuclides during decommissioning work at nuclear power plants. Herein, we proposed simple preparations and uranium concentrations urine microbeam scanning particle induced X-ray emission (µ-PIXE) analysis a rat model. A droplet (1 µL) mixed solution treated with five-fold amount concentrated nitric acid was placed on polypropylene film coated perfluoroalkoxy alkanes (PFA) dried room temperature. The µ-PIXE imaging revealed that successful condensation homogeneous distribution specimen achieved using by PFA coating. Uranium collected from uranium-injected rats were quantified. obtained results consistent those determined inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
